Several universities now offer programs to teach this subject to the upcoming leaders in the field.

University of Denver

Applicants to the program must submit an application form, a resume, an application fee, two letters of recommendation, official transcripts from postsecondary institutions they've atended and a degree plan that the applicant creates with the help of a department adviser.

University of Connecticut

The University of Connecticut's Labor Education Center administers the Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health program. This program offers graduate and undergraduate courses toward a degree in Environmental Health and Safety through the UConn College of Continuing Studies. Students register for the courses they will need for their degree through the School of Allied Health.
