Wood chippers are used by thousands of workers everyday. Anyone from a construction worker to a landscaper could use a wood chipper while doing certain jobs. A wood chipper is a machine that grinds branches and other woods into tiny little pieces. A wood chipper accident could be fatal. That is why it is important to follow wood chipper safety while working with or near these machine.

Tips For Using A Wood Chipper Safely

1.Never put your hands or other body parts in the opening of the wood chipper. If a piece of wood is stuck do not use your hands to free it. Turn the machine off and than remove the stuck branch.

2.Never open the clipper hood while the machine is still turned on.

3.When the weather is cold you should allow at least 15 minutes for the chipper to warm up before you begin work.

4.Wear clothes that fit properly. Loose ill fitted clothes can become stuck in the chipper if you get to close.

5.Turn off the wood chipper to refuel. Just like a car you should never refill the gas while it is turned on.

6. Use a pusher tool to help smaller pieces of wood move down the chute. Again never put you hand inside the machine at anytime.

7.Stand to the side of the chute while loading. This will prevent injuries if a piece of wood should get shot back out of the chute.

8.Always start with the wider end if the branch when feeding it into the chipper.

9.Wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from small shards of wood that might fly out of the machine.

10.You should also wear gloves to prevent splinters ans other injuries to your hands.

If you follow these wood chipper safety tips while working you should be safe to work another day.
