The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills and competencies of candidates in the workplace. This qualification is about the support and development of good practice and awareness of all aspects of health and safety in the workplace. It is about the identification, control and monitoring of workplace hazards and risks.

Promoting the health and safety culture within the workplace is also addressed in this qualification. Candidates will be required to work under their own authority and will be required to make decisions within agreed limits and boundaries, with guidance from a dedicated assessor.

The qualification consists of nine available Units, five of which are mandatory, while a further 2 are chosen by the candidate.
