While it's important to teach your employees about safety issues and prevention, safety training doesn't necessarily have to be a bore. Making learning interesting, creative and fun is the best way to ensure that your employees will retain and apply the information. Safety training can go above and beyond the basic,

Instructions

1.Create a game that goes along with your type of workplace. For example, if you work at a cooking school, incorporate a cooking idea into your safety training, covering aspects of safety as it relates to the kitchen (see Reference 1).
2.Ask your employees to create safety games. Have them form groups of four people and ask each group to come up with a game that will convey a certain aspect of safety training. Then they can present their game to their co-workers and everybody can participate (see Reference 1).

3.Base a safety game on a well-know board game like Trivial Pursuit. Create questions that relate to safety and have your employees quiz each other. Play Scrabble and set rules that only allow health or safety-related words to be used. You can also ask questions in a Jeopardy-style game. Consider awarding a prize to the winner to promote competition and further learning.
4.Design a scavenger hunt for your employees. Participants can search for safety items and even hazards. You can either set up things for your employees to find or have them simply search the workplace. Offer a prize to the first person or team that locates a designated number of items and hazards. SEE REF 1
5.Incorporate interesting DVDs and PowerPoint presentations into your meeting. Make sure that they're not outdated or they'll be boring to your employees.
6.Ask speakers to make presentations to your employees. Inviting professionals who have experience in different areas of safety is a great way to introduce new information and hold your employees' attention.
