Instructions

.Look around your workplace and note safety concerns. Have co-workers and supervisors participate in spotting hazards. Incentivize the process by giving awards for major "gotchas." Use the data to perform a job safety analysis with two or three key employees, so you know what information you need to include in your training.

.Take digital pictures of your workplace with employees performing tasks that pose different degrees of hazard. These might include even the most mundane chores such as typing without ergonomic wrist supports, which can cause carpal tunnel syndrome. Take extensive pictures of any areas that contain potentially hazardous waste.

.Make a PowerPoint Presentation demonstrating the accepted safe way to perform the work in question using the digital photos.

.Construct a printed hand-out to go with the PowerPoint training.

.Invite a local expert to the workshop to discuss safety points with employees. Ask local policemen to come assess site security. Most utility companies are happy to come discuss hazards associated with their services. Check the OSHA site (see Resources below) for the various rules and regulations governing your industry.

.Develop a quiz to administer after the presentation to assess the effectiveness of your training workshop and to document the training for government auditors, or print out a certificate for each participant.
