You may not even realize the fire has started till it is to big for you to control. Faulty wiring can catch fire at anytime with little to no warning that it is about to happen.

Guidelines For Installing Electrical Wiring

There are a few basic electrical wiring guidelines you must follow when working with any electrical lines.

  1. Always make sure the power is turned off before you begin working with electrical wires. There is usually a circuit breaker on a wall of the house that controls the flow of power to all the electrical wiring in the house. Flipping the power off while working will help prevent accidental shock if you touch the wires incorrectly.
  2. Never work in or near water. Electricity can be conducted through water and it will cause the injuries to be much more severe.
  3. Most towns require you to have a permit in order to do any type of electrical work. These is to inform the county that you will be working with electricity. Most times the electrical guidelines and codes for your town can be found at the local city hall.
  4. Metal is another conductor of electricity so make sure you are never near or standing on metal while working with live electrical wiring.
  5. Wear rubber soled shoes. The rubber will stop the electricity from traveling through your body if you accidentally step on a live wire while working.
  6. Never leave unfinished wiring hanging around. If you scheduled for a break or to go home for the day always finish up the job you are working on before you leave. Exposed wires are a huge safety hazard for everyone in the building.
  7. Use tools that are specifically made for electrical work. Most electrical tool will have rubber grips on them to help conduct the electric.

If you use these electrical wiring guidelines you are sure to remain safe to work another day. There is never any reason to take shortcuts at work. A few minutes of unsafe work could cause a lifetime of pain and hurt.
