Compressed air is used in several lines of work. It can be used for anything from power equipment to cleaning. It is important to follow compressed air safety guidelines. It can be dangerous if it is used incorrectly.

Compressed Air Guidelines

1.Make sure the hose is in good condition before you use the compressed air. If the hose is torn,cracked or bent it should be replaced before the machine is used.

2.Keep the hose off of the floor where it could cause tripping hazards. Also do not lay the hose across roads or doors. It can get caught in the door and rip or get pulled from a car driving over it.

3.Compressed air should never make contact with your skin. It is extremely dangerous because of how cold it is in the container.

4.If you are cleaning with compressed air make sure to wear safety goggles or a full face shield to protect your face.

5.OSHA compressed air safety guidelines state that the air pressure is not to exceed 30 psig when being used to clean.

6.Check the area for sharp objects that could cut or puncture the hose before you lay it down on the ground.

7.Never use compressed air to clean your clothes of debris.

Many people don’t realize how dangerous compressed air can truly be to your body. The lightest pressure of compressed air on your skin can cause blood vessels to break and hemorrhage. Also it can cause your eardrums to burst and your eyes can be damaged beyond repair. If you put compressed air into your body it can make your internal organs explode can cause a very painful death.
