The Best Contractor Safety Checklist

There are many jobs that a contractor is expected to do on a daily basis. Many of them can be dangerous if they are not done properly. Since there various duties that a contractor does during a workday it is a good idea to have a contractor safety checklist to help you remember to work safe. You can make your own personalized contractor safety checklist that it tailored to your specific work needs. There is a sample of my contractor safety checklist sheet below that you can also use.

My Contractor Safety Checklist Sheet

Personal Safety

1.Are hard hats being worn?
2.Is each person wearing protective leather gloves?
3.Is everyone using hearing protection?
4.Are safety goggles being worn when needed?
5.All employees wearing reflective vest?
6.Are harnesses being worn when needed?

Medical Safety

1.Medical emergency numbers posted in a common area?
2.Is the job site address clearly posted with emergency numbers?
3.Are first aid boxes available?
4.Is the first aid box stocked?
5.Is anyone trained in CPR?
6.Are eyewash stations available?
7.Is eyewash station in working condition?
8.Are Fire extinguishers placed throughout the work site?
9.Have fire extinguishers been maintained each month?

Equipment Safety

1.Has all equipment been checked by a trained or certified person for damage?
2.If equipment was damaged did it get replaced or repaired?
3.Is all equipment clean and in working order?
4.Has all equipment that requires electricity had there cords checked for frays and tears?
5.Do all saws have proper guards in place?
6.Have blades been checked for chips,breaks or cracks?
7.Are trained and licensed personal operating heavy machinery?

General Safety

1.Are all floors clear of debris and clutter?
2.Is there anything blocking the walkways?
3.Are cord and wires in places that will not cause tripping hazards?
4.Are ladders available if needed?
5.Are all work areas kept clean throughout the day?
6.Are the proper safety signs hung where needed?
7.Is there barricades in place to prevent unwanted people form entering the site?

This is just a sample of my contractor safety list. I use this list each day to help me check for safety issues on the job. It is important to know what is going on at your job. You should be aware of the safe and unsafe acts that occur each day. It is your job to prevent the unsafe acts and to stop injuries and accidents from happening.
