Fire protection rules should be developed and distributed to all employees. He also should check the sprinkler system for adequate water pressure and proper functioning on a monthly basis.

Work Environment

Combustible material such as scrap should be promptly disposed of. Frequent visual inspections of lighting should be performed to make certain all areas are safely lighted. Emergency lighting should be installed and maintained in stairwells that are used to exit a facility. All exits should be clearly marked and should be clear of any items that might obstruct passage. Accident Procedure

Accidents or illnesses should be immediately reported to personnel. A first aid kit should be kept in the personnel office because the seriousness of an accident can be lessened if a kit is on hand. According to the Mayo Clinic, the kit should contain adhesive tape, an ointment that acts as an antibiotic, bandages and tape, quick cold packs, cotton balls, latex gloves, eye goggles, gauze pads, and a basic first aid manual. Several people at your company should be trained in how to administer CPR. Free training can often be arranged with your local fire department. Maintain a list of phone numbers for your local fire department, police precinct, local first aid squad and hospital.

Personnel Security

Control access to your office with a lock and door buzzer so that unauthorized personnel cannot enter the office without being buzzed in. If office keys are given to some employees, should they leave the company, make it standard procedure to get the keys back before the employees leaves the company. To eliminate the problem of controlling keys, if the budget is available, install a card key access system so that cards of departing employees can be deactivated easily.
