According to the U.S. Department of Labor, there are about 4 million cases of workplace injuries reported each year. Many people don't recognize or regard the dangers that can exist in the workplace. Whether you are in an office or on a construction site, workplace safety should be on your mind. If you are a human resource employee or manager, it is your responsibility to keep workers aware of potential risks.
Instructions
1.Create a booklet that describes issues of workplace safety that exist at your place of employment. Make it as specific to your job location as possible instead of just discussing general issues that affect job sites everywhere. For instance, if there is a dangerous area of your job site that has caused injuries in the past, give specific details about how the employees should maneuver through this area. 2.Send a fun yet instructional online video to all of the employees that describes issues of workplace safety at your job site. Make it light-hearted, interesting and humorous so people will actually click the email to view the content and encourage co-workers to view it as well. 3. Have a workplace safety competition. Challenge each employee to answer 20 workplace safety questions correctly. Offer a lucrative prize, such as two days off, a laptop, or a financial incentive. The first three people to submit the form with the most correct answers wins. This will encourage the employees to open the safety manual to do some research. 4. Place placards on the equipment that workers use regularly in the workplace. Focus on the machines that could pose a threat to safety. Write interesting facts about each piece of equipment, such as a safety statistic or story related to the machine. You can also post step-by-step directions for how to safely use the equipment. 5. Hire an interesting speaker who is an expert on the subject of workplace safety to come in and do a presentation. You can also try to find someone who was injured in a workplace accident to speak to your employees. Make sure the speaker is exciting and funny to hold the attention of the group. - trff28cb49f10c5115517ee356ffb0afb3.jpg
