Contractor Safety Training Requirements
A contractor is an independent worker that is hired by companies to assist or complete a chosen project or task. The contractor must abide by the safety requirements of the company, especially if he is doing work for the company on a construction site or a place where dangers are high risk. A safety agreement must be signed by the contractor to ensure that he understands and follows the safety requirements of the business should he decide to act irresponsibly on the job site. Safety Equipment The contractor must be trained in how to use the safety equipment used on the job site. This can include using safety goggles, hard hats, steel-toed shoes, workman boots, hearing protection, preventive straps when working high in the air and respirators if working with paint or other toxic fumes. The contractor must know how to use each piece of equipment and find it on the job site on a daily basis. Workplace Safety The contractor should also be trained in basic first-aid treatments in the event someone on the work site is harmed. He must also know how to get additional outside help, such as an ambulance or fire department, if a manager is not near the scene of the accident. Safety Regulations The company that has hired the contractor already has a set of safety regulations in place. The contractor must learn these safety regulations and abide by them in the workplace or the work site. These safety regulations can include how to react when something occurs on the work site that harms the contractor, what legal options the contractor has if he is injured in the workplace and what action others can take against him if he is the cause of an unsafe work environment. These safety regulations are established to protect every worker on the site, whether it is a permanent employee or outsourced contractor. Compliance Declaration In terms of paper work, the contractor must also be informed of what the compliance declaration means. When signing the safety training agreement, the contractor agrees to the terms and safety measures outlined in the agreement. If the contractor does not understand the circumstances of signing the compliance declaration, the employer must teach the meaning of the document to the contractor. The compliance declaration legalizes the information outlined in the agreement, so the company can take legal action against the contractor if he does not follow safety procedures or is a danger for other workers' safety. - lvaa29d7eda1de98979526c2c223d4c167.jpg
