Safety gear is required at construction sites to protect the worker from hazards of the environment such as falling debris, process or chemical hazards or other mechanical irritants.
Hard Hats Hard hats are worn by workers who work in an area where they can sustain a head injury from impact, falling or flying objects or electrical shock.
Safety Goggles/Masks Safety goggles or masks, depending on how much facial area is exposed to danger, are worn in construction areas where machines and processes present potential eye or face injury from physical, chemical or radiation agents.
Protective Boots The boots protect the worker from common foot injuries on the construction site like impact, compression and puncture. The boots should have metal toes for maximum protection.
Ear Plugs/Muffs In construction areas where workers are exposed to prolonged noise, ear plugs are required.
Dust Mask/Respirator Essential to construction safety, a dust mask or respirator prevent gas, vapors, solid particles, fumes and other contaminants from being inhaled.
Safety Nets and Belts Safety belts are able to support up to 4,000 lbs. without breaking, and they should be a minimum ½ inch of nylon. They are ideal for falls less than 6 feet. For construction sites 25 feet or more above ground, safety nets are installed.
